Effective April 17, 2023, the transfers of national school teachers on ten-year and annual basis will be implemented, as stated by the Education Ministry. However, this transfer will not apply to teachers attached to Ordinary Level (O/L) and Advanced Level (A/L) classes, in order to prevent any inconvenience to the students, the Ministry explained in a press release.
To ensure fairness, transfer appeals made by teachers in O/L and A/L classes will be reconsidered by a special committee. Meanwhile, the Education Ministry has extended the temporary teacher appointments that have been granted until June 30, 2023. Additionally, teachers who received transfer letters before the specified date are advised to comply with the particulars in the letter as soon as it is received.
The decision to implement transfers for national school teachers is aimed at promoting a fair distribution of teachers across the country, as well as to address any teacher shortages in certain areas. The Education Ministry has taken this decision after careful consideration of various factors, including the needs of the students and the availability of teachers.
