The Ministry of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs has announced that the State Vesak Festival for 2023 will be held in the Puttalam District, with the main festival taking place at the Kedellewa Sri Rathanasiri Pirivena in Chilaw.
The decision was made during an official meeting chaired by the Anunayaka of Sri Lanka Ramanya Maha Nikaya Most Venerable Nadagamuwe Vijaya Maithri Thera on March 16th.
The festival aims to promote Buddhist revival across the country, with Puttalam district as the center. To achieve this, the Ministry is working with institutions at the national, district, and regional levels.
In addition to the main festival, officials discussed Pre-Vesak programs and Vesak Poya day programs during the Vesak week.
