State Minister of Finance, Shehan Semasinghe, has announced that the information survey and verification process for 1.1 million welfare benefit applications has been successfully completed. The verification process was conducted to ensure that all applicants provide accurate information before the deadline.
Verification Rates Across Districts
According to the State Minister, the highest verification rate was recorded in the Kalutara District, with 46% of applications verified, followed by the Badulla District at 34% and the Galle District at 32%. It’s worth noting that all 1.1 million applications were verified across the island.
Ongoing Verification Process for 3.7 Million Applications
The State Minister also revealed that the verification process for 3.7 million applications received from 334 Divisional Secretariats across the island is ongoing. The process is being conducted systematically to ensure that all eligible applicants receive the welfare allowances they are entitled to.

The information survey is set to conclude on the 31st of this month, and failure to provide accurate information before the deadline will result in the loss of welfare benefits.
