The Fourth Session of the Ninth Parliament is set to start today (February 8th) at 10.00 a.m. with President Ranil Wickremesinghe inaugurating the session. The previous Third Session of the Ninth Parliament was opened by President Wickremesinghe on August 3rd, 2022, and concluded on January 27th, 2023.
Today, President Wickremesinghe will deliver the government’s policy statement during the opening ceremony. According to the Serjeant-at-Arms, Narendra Fernando, Parliament will adjourn after the President’s speech until 9.30 a.m. the next day (February 9th).
