Victoria Nuland, the United States’ Under-Secretary for Political Affairs, is on an official visit to Sri Lanka and expressed her government’s support for the nation’s ongoing recovery efforts during a meeting with President Ranil Wickremesinghe at the Presidential Secretariat.
President Wickremesinghe thanked the U.S. Government for their support during these difficult times. Discussions also focused on the negotiations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), with the U.S. pledging to continue aiding the resolution of the issues.
The President further discussed the measures taken for reconciliation with minority parties in Sri Lanka, including the full implementation of the 13th Amendment. The narcotics trade was also addressed, with the U.S. offering their assistance.
