According to the Health Ministry, 620 more people tested positive for COVID-19 today (June 25), bringing the total number of positive cases to 1,859.
The New Year cluster has been linked to all new cases reported within the day.
- This brings the total number of confirmed coronavirus infections reported in the country to 249,909.
- Since the pandemic outbreak last year, 214,668 recoveries and 2,862 deaths have been confirmed in Sri Lanka.
More than 32,000 active cases are currently being treated at designated hospitals and treatment centers, according to official data.
Covid-19 Deaths today
The Director-General of Health Services confirmed yesterday that Sri Lanka has recorded 48 more COVID-19-related fatalities (June 24).
The new development brings the official death toll in Sri Lanka due to the virus to 2,862.
The new victims confirmed today include 22 females and 26 males, according to data released by the Department of Government Information.
Eleven victims are between the ages of 30 and 59, while the remaining 37 are 60 and older.
Update on Recoveries
As many as 1, 843 more novel coronavirus patients were discharged from medical care within the last 24 hours as they have returned to health, the Ministry of Health says.
