President Gotabaya Rajapaksa declared open the China-Sri Lanka Friendship Hospital, also known as the National Nephrology Specialised Hospital, in Polonnaruwa this morning.
The hospital was built in response to a request made by former President Maithripala Sirisena during a visit to China in 2015. The hospital was built over a 30-month period at a cost of Rs.12 billion.
The hospital has five operating rooms equipped with cutting-edge technology, as well as kidney transplantation capabilities.
According to the President’s Media Division, the facility can house 200 in-house patients.
