On Tuesday (June 8), the Sri Lanka Police arrested 1,034 people for violating quarantine regulations such as wearing face masks and maintaining social distance in public places.
According to DIG Ajith Rohana, 26,920 arrests have been made in connection with the same offenses since October 30th, 2020. Nearly 26,000 of them have had cases filed against them, according to the police spokesman.
Meanwhile, police have inspected 7,238 people and 3,369 vehicles at 14 Western Province entry and exit points. According to a police spokesman, nearly 70 of them were returned after being admonished.
