The COVID-19 vaccine should not be given to anyone who has symptoms of a COVID-19 infection, according to the Ministry of Health’s Epidemiology Unit.
Dr. Sudath Samaraweera, Chief Epidemiologist, believes that giving the vaccine to someone who has COVID-19 symptoms is pointless.
He mentioned this during a press conference held today in Colombo (May 16).
He stated, “If someone is infected [with COVID-19], there is no point in getting the vaccine because the virus is already in their body.”
As a result, we are postponing vaccinations for those who are currently quarantined and those suspected of being infected [with COVID-19].
It is pointless to get vaccinated while concealing symptoms. That is not appropriate.”
Dr. Samaraweera also mentioned the virus’s transmissibility from a person infected with the coronavirus.
“If a person has only minor or no symptoms after being infected with COVID-19, the virus’s effect or transmissibility to another person disappears after 10-14 days.
