The Supreme Court’s decision on the Colombo Port City Economic Commission Bill will be presented to the House on May 18th, according to the Parliament’s Department of Communications.
On Wednesday evening, Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena received the Supreme Court’s decision on the Colombo Port City Economic Commission Bill (May 05).
The Committee on Parliamentary Business decided on Tuesday (May 04) not to proceed with the scheduled parliamentary debate on the relevant draft bills on Wednesday because the Supreme Court’s decision had not yet been received by the Parliament.
The Supreme Court concluded its review of petitions challenging the Colombo Port City Economic Commission Bill on April 23.
The petitions were heard by a five-judge bench that included Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya and Supreme Court Judges Buwaneka Aluvihare, Priyantha Jayawardena, Murdu Fernando, and Janak de Silva.
