A special program to draw new airlines to Mattala International Airport has begun. Minister of Tourism Prasanna Ranatunga stated that all airlines that fly to Sri Lanka have been contacted.
As a result, it has been agreed to exclude airlines from landing and stoppage fees for a year, and to exempt airlines from landing taxes for two years.
The Mattala Airport is being developed according to a five-year plan.
Increased flight numbers and improved services at goods terminals and loading docks have also been prioritized. The software, according to the Minister, will be introduced once the coronavirus situation is under control.
