The second phase of Sathosa ‘Sahana Malla’ program, will be launched from Sunday, May 02 Minister of Trade, Dr. Bandula Gunawardena announced at a media briefing held at the Ministry of Trade today.
The Sathosa ‘Sahana Malla’ program is being implemented on a concept of Minister of Trade to provide consumers with the opportunity to obtain high quality products at the lowest possible prices, avoiding the hassle of purchasing essential items in the face of the rapidly spreading COVID-19 epidemic in the country.
The specialty of the CWE Sahana Malla-2 is that for Rs. 1000 the consumers can purchase one kilogram of Samba rice, one kilogram of Nadu rice, one kilogram of flour, one kilogram of Australian red dhal, 200 grams of Thai sprats, one kilogram of white sugar, 50 milliliter of disinfectant hand washing liquid manufactured by the Government Industrial Technology Institute, 100 grams of tea certified by the Tea Marketing Board, 50 grams of soya meat and 100 grams of chili flakes through the CWE outlets island wide, the Minister said.
The Minister also stated that consumers who purchase this relief bag for a sum of Rs. 1,000 will be able to obtain one packet of Highland milk powder, a product of the National Dairy Board, at a price lower than the prevailing market price. Accordingly, this relief will be provided only to the customer who obtains the relief bag through the CWE.
Speaking further on the occasion, the Minister said the world’s first RESPIRONE NANO AV99 – a reusable mask produced using Nanotechnology by a team of professors and lecturers at the University of Peradeniya was released yesterday through the CWE outlet network and all 100,000 face masks released yesterday were sold out within 24 hours.
