According to the Southern Expressway Operations and Maintenance Division, revenue from the Southern Expressway has exceeded Rs. 135 million for the last four days.
About 515,000 cars have used the expressway in the last four days. According to officials, this is the largest number of vehicles operated on the Southern Expressway this year.
- Over Rs. 70 million was earned on the 9th and 10th, according to the Expressway Administration, with nearly Rs. 40 million collected on the 10th alone.
- The use of expressways by people traveling to their villages and on excursions for the Sinhala and Tamil New Years is the reason for the rise in revenue, according to an official said.
- It is reported that this year’s revenue has increased by Rs. 8 million compared to last year.
Meanwhile, the police considering the accidents that have taken place in the last few days, request drivers to keep a safe distance between vehicles on the expressway.
