Responding to a question raised by Harsha de Silva, M.P. at the Parliament yesterady (07), Minister of Agriculture, Mahindananda Aluthgamage stated that the government has never provided substandard fertilizer to farmers.
The Minister said that a report submitted by the Auditor General in February 2020 had revealed that unsuitable fertilizer had been imported during the previous government’s time.
The Minister stressed that substandard fertilizer has never been released to the market, adding that equipment including fertilizer testing kits have been imported and farmers will not be provided with substandard fertilizer.
