Minister of Agriculture Mahindananda Aluthgamage said that starting April 1, all supermarkets, CWEs, and cooperative outlets would be able to purchase rice at government prices for the upcoming New Year.
As a result, a kilo of Nadu rice is being sold for Rs. 97, and white and red kekulu is being sold for Rs. 95.
Today, Agriculture Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage met with Sathosa Chairman, Co-operative Commissioner, and CEOs of all supermarkets and agreed to sell rice provided by the Paddy Marketing Board at the required prices.
The rice required for three months will be available for purchase through the network of 4,000 regional outlets of these institutions island wide from the 1st of next month, the Minister said.
