According to Police Media Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana, a special three-day operation will begin today (March 22) to identify cars with worn-out tyres.
DIG Rohana stated that road accidents have claimed nearly 8 lives in the last 24 hours and that 9-10 lives are lost daily as a result of such incidents.
He stated that vehicle flaws have been identified as one of the primary causes of these road accidents.
As a result, he said, the Police Headquarters has given special orders to launch an operation to detect cars with worn-out tyres.
