COVID-19 has disrupted the expectation for global and local growth and development. As economies adapt to the pandemic, there is a high degree of uncertainty about the future trajectory of global growth, trade and investment.

Sri Lanka Economic Summit to Focus on the Post-COVID-19 Economic Recovery

The first session of the summit on Pos- COVID-19 Economic Recovery, will aim to answer some of the burning questions with regards to the global and local economy at the Sri Lanka Economic Summit (SLES) hosted virtually by the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce. The session will discuss the policy options that will be leveraged in the recovery phase and how these would impact the speed of recovery. Sri Lanka’s economy will also be discussed in detail as it takes measures to meet key debt and growth challenges. The business perspective on navigating and adapting to the uncertain economic recovery will be discussed as well.

The presenters at this plenary will Mr. Eric Robertsen – Global Head, Research and Chief Strategist, Standard Chartered Bank and Deshamanya, Prof W D Lakshman – Governor, Central Bank of Sri Lanka. The presenters will be joined by Deshamanya Mahesh Amalean – Chairman, MAS Holdings and Mr. Krishan Balendra – Chairman, John Keells Holdings PLC. The session will be moderated by Mr. Shiran Fernando – Chief Economist, The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.

The flagship summit will be held on a virtual format in compliance with health guidelines and will bring together key policymakers, business leaders as well as the input of top international thought leaders that will come together to identify the steps in developing the pathway towards the accelerated and people centric revival of the country’s economy.
