The Newly appointed Inspector General of Police C.D. Wickramaratne will assume his duties today.
Mr. Wickremaratne, who has been the Acting IGP for one and a half years, has been recommended as IGP by President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.
In 1986, he entered the Sri Lankan Police as a probationary Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) and served 34 years in that role.
