As of this morning (18), a total of 401more persons were confirmed positive to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. 3of them are seafarers and all other 398 were from locally-identified affectees. Of those persons, 201 are from Colombo, 82 from Gampaha and 32 from Kalutara, states the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO).

By 6.00 this morning (18), the total number of COVID-19 positive cases reported from Minuwangoda garment factory employees and Peliyagoda Fish Market cluster stands at 14,564. As of this morning (18), 3,059 of them were from the Minuwangoda cluster and all other 11,505 were from Peliyagoda Fish Market cluster. 8,785 fully-recovered COVID-19 patients have been discharged from hospitals.

Up to yesterday (17), a total of 18,074 persons were confirmed COVID-19 positive from all over the country. 12,209 fully-recovered COVID-19 patients have been so far discharged from hospitals and all other 5,799 are still under treatment in hospitals and care centers.

To-date, 66 COVID-19 positive deaths have been reported. Yesterday’s 5 deaths were from Colombo 10, Rathmalana, Kirulapone and Dematagoda areas. In the past 24 hours, 404 persons recovered patients have left hospitals.

As of this morning (18), the flight QR6884 from Doha- qatar with a passenger, the flight UL 226 from Dubai with 289 Passengers and the flight UL 1042 from Mumbai with 7passengers have arrived in Colombo. All those passengers were referred to Quarantine Centres (QCs), managed by tri-services upon their arrival after formalities at the airport.

As of this morning (18), 3,223 persons in 33 tri service-managed QCs are still in quarantine. Within yesterday (16), 8,743 PCR tests were carried out.
