Today’s Weather Forecast: Showers will occur at several places in Northern and Eastern provinces.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places elsewhere after 2.00 p.m.
Heavy showers about100 mm can be expected at some places in Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-western provinces and in Galle and Matara districts.
General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Marine Weather
Condition of Rain:
Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the sea areas around the island in the evening or night. Showers will occur at times in the Northern sea area. Showers or thundershowers may occur in the Easternand South-eastern sea areas in the morning too.
Winds:
Winds will be North-easterly in the sea areas extending from Colombo to Kankasanturai via Puttalam andMannar and South-easterly to Easterly in the other sea areas around the island. Wind speed will be (20-30) kmph. Wind speed can increase up to 40 kmph in the sea areas extending from Chilaw to Trincomalee via Puttalam, Mannar and Kankasanturai.
State of Sea:
The sea areas extending from Chilaw to Trincomalee via Puttalam, Mannar and Kankasanturai can be fairly rough at times. Other sea areas around the island can be slight to moderate.
Temporarily strong gusty winds (up to 70-80 kmph) and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.
