Group of Sri Lankans stranded in Japan without means of returning home due to travel restrictions is repatriated. SriLankan Airlines’ special flight (UL 455) had returned to Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) about 3:38 a.m. this morning (16).
The flight departed to Tokyo, Japan International Airport on Thursday night (14), with 157 passengers including 16 Japanese nationals.
At the airport premises, Air Force staff decontaminated repatriated Sri Lankans and their luggage.
They were then led for compulsory quarantine. Meanwhile, another group of Sri Lankans stranded in Myanmar due to the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak were bought back to the island around 12.05 today (16).
A flight chartered by Myanmar Airways International (8M611) from Myanmar International Airport has reached the BIA pm with 74 Sri Lankans aboard.
Such passengers were decontaminated upon arrival, heading to quarantine centers following medical check-up.
