Sports News: While the COVID-19 pandemic has brought the entire world to its knees, the Professionals Sport Journalists Association of Sri Lanka (PSJASL) with the support of Desamannaya DR H.T.R.Priyantha has come forward to provide much needed essential sanitary items for some of the frontline medical professionals and officers of the Special Task Force (STF) of Sri Lanka Police.
Even as the Covid-19 pandemic has brought the nation to a standstill, The Professionals Sport Journalists Assoction of Sri Lanka (PSJASL) and Desamannaya DR H.T.R.Priyantha , have come forward and made a small contribution to the frontline medical professionals and 500 special task force who currently stay at Ministry of Sports hostel in Colombo donates Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits, 2000 masks, 20 sanitizers and 1000 hand wash soap bars .
With the whole country under a strict lockdown, there is an acute shortage of the essential items which are of utmost importance in the fight against the Coronavirus such as masks, PPE kits, hand sanitizers, and dispersers.
President of the PSJASL Karuppiah Ramakrihnan and secretary Chathuka Divashan were present and handed over the donation to the K.D.Ruwanchandra secretary, Ministry of Sports.
“This is a small token of gesture to the massive efforts being undertaken by special task force in Colombo districts Said K.D.Ruwanchandra (secretary ministry of sports).
We thanked to the PSJASL and the H.T.R.Priyantha such donation for the Colombo districts Special task force who continues their duties at the ministry of sports hostel. Ruwanchandra said.
This humble offer of contribution in our fight against the pandemic may be a drop in the ocean but at this critical period we all should come forward and help in whatever way we can.” said Desamannaya DR H.T.R.Priyantha
President of PSJASL Karuppiah Ramakrishnan said “With the threat due to the pandemic looming large over the entire globe, what worries our is the safety of our health and security forces who are the frontline warriors in this fight. He said
“We at the PSJASL salute these doctors, nurses and other health care workers who have been working selflessly and relentlessly even at the peril of putting their lives at risk.” Chathuka Divashana (Secretary of PSJASL) said.
