Local News: The number of tests performed will be increased to ascertain if there are more Covid-19 patients in the country, said Health Director General Dr. Anil Jasinghe. He said this at last day’s Covid-19 media briefing at the National Operation Center for Prevention.
He said the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests are currently being performed in several hospitals across the island to classify COVID-19 infections, adding that the Rapid Tests would be checked and these experiments will be carried out in a broader manner with the receipt of the Rapid Test Kits.
The Director-General of Health Services also noted that two telephone lines, 1390 and 1399, were established so that those suspected of having Coronavirus could call certain numbers and receive medical help from their homes without having to go to a hospital. He said it is the public’s duty to comply with the government’s attempts to curb the Coronavirus spread and keep a distance away. He also encouraged the public not to mask their symptoms and seek medical attention if the signs of Covid-19 come up.
