Local News: The Immigration and Emigration Controller General has agreed to extend the validity duration of all types of foreigner visas currently in Sri Lanka taking into account the spread of the Coronavirus in the region.
The Immigration and Emigration Controller General’s media release cited that the visa will be extended until May 12th this year.
The statement said the procedure for paying the appropriate visa fee and for having the visa endorsed in the Passport will be notified later and therefore foreigners are advised to refrain from visiting the Department of Immigration and Emigration’s Visa Division as stated in the previous notice.
Foreigners are requested to refrain from visiting the Department of Immigration and Emigration’s Visa Section, as specified in the previous note. And the statement said it would be told later on about the process to pay the appropriate visa fee and get the visa endorsed in the passport.
If however the foreign individual wishes to leave the country during this period their journey will be facilitated by paying the relevant fees at the airport without any penalty.
