Local News Update: At the orders of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, the import of ethanol for the manufacture of liquor was banned. The Ministry of Finance issued a press release announced that from today (January 01) the ban will be enforced.
This action was reportedly taken in view of the fact that ethanol is widely produced in the country.
