Local News Update: In a meeting held yesterday at the Presidential Secretariat, large-scale rice mill owners expressed their willingness to provide rice at concessionary prices during this festive season.
The mill owners have therefore agreed to sell a kilo of Nadu rice at a maximum retail price of Rs. 98 while selling a kilo of Samba with effect from yesterday at Rs.99.
The Ministry of Finance said in a statement that the decision taken by the owners of the mill will help consumers buy their rice requirements at a concessional price through the distributors of rice mill owners across the island.
