Local News Update: Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has ordered officials to initiate a special program to evacuate people from the weather-affected areas. There was a conversation between the Prime Minister and the officials.
The extreme weather has impacted the residents from nine districts. Discussions were held on the management of displaced persons and appropriate precautions were taken in the future to prevent such a disaster.
The Prime Minister ordered officials immediately to provide the displaced persons with cooked meals and sanitation. Dry rations will also be delivered to the victims. The Prime Minister told officials to pay special attention to the children who had been victimized The discussion was attended by ministers, MPs and tri-force and IGP commanders.
