Local News from Sri Lanka: A short while ago, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe stepped down from his position as Sri Lanka’s Prime Minister. Premier Wickremesinghe will notify the President of the decision in writing.
It is stated that the decision was taken to facilitate the establishment of his own government by the newly elected President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
Earlier today (20), Minister Lakshman Kiriella, Leader of Parliament House, said that the Prime Minister will resign and hand over the government to the new administration today.
In this regard, a meeting of the Cabinet was also called this evening.
