Business News from Sri Lanka: The ICT / BPM promotional workshop “Island of Ingenuity” was organized by the Sri Lankan Consulate General in Toronto on August 12, 2019 at the Edward Hotel, Toronto, Ontario. Ruwindhu Peiris, the team advisor working as the resource individual for the ICT / BPM industry in Sri Lanka, participated in the case. Sri Lankan expatriates involved in the ICT industry attended the workshop.
The objective of this project was to leverage the Diaspora network of Sri Lanka to assist transform the industry by tapping into its networks and unraveling possibilities for the ICT / BPM sector in Sri Lanka. The 2022 National Export Strategy of Sri Lanka aims to raise the IT / BPM industry and attain an export revenue target of USD 5 billion, 200,000 + fresh employment and 1,000 fresh start-ups.
Mr. Peiris shared the success stories of leading IT firms like Virtusa, HSBC, the London Stock Exchange Group, IFS, and Pearson in Sri Lanka during the lecture. He described eloquently why Sri Lanka could be a gateway and a test bend for those targeting Asia’s IT / BPM markets. A networking session accompanied the interactive introduction.
