Local News from Sri Lanka: SriLankan Airlines, Sri Lanka’s national carrier and Oneworld alliance member, recently celebrated 40 years of operations at the Katunayake Airport.
On the occasion, State Finance Minister Eran Wickramaratne was the chief guest. The event was attended by the Chairman of SriLankan Airlines, G.S. Withanage, Chief Executive, Vipula Gunatilleka and many staff members.
Addressing the gathering, Minister said, “That SriLankan Airlines marks 40 years of service is a proud time for all of us. Our aviation history goes far back to more than 70 years. We are looking to a future where the National Carrier is empowered to continue its mission of bringing Sri Lanka to the globe.
“Chairman of SriLankan Airlines, Withanage said,” As the National Carrier, SriLankan is a major contributor to the domestic economy and a catalyst in the tourism industry in our country. We should be proud to be part of such an organization. “The event’s highlight was to recognize 18 staff members who have completed 40 years of service this year. SriLankan Airlines, CEO, Gunatilleka said in appreciation of their dedication and commitment,
