In July 2018, EDB, in cooperation with the Sri Lankan Association of Rubber Product Manufacturers and Exporters (SLAMERP) and the Sri Lankan Plastic and Rubber Institute (PRISL), arranged a two-day workshop on Product Innovation, Technology and R&D to upgrade the understanding of tire manufacturers / exporters by acquiring technical expert services from India. The first cooperative tyre workshop was effectively performed with the involvement of more than 100 technical staff from major Sri Lankan tyre manufacturing & exporting businesses.
Taking into account the expertise acquired from the first workshop, the application made by the technical staff and the significance of continuous improvement of industry understanding in line with global demands, EDB arranged a two (2) day workshop on Tyre Compounding & Tyre Technology in cooperation with SLAMERP and PRISL by acquiring the services of Indian technical experts. This workshop was attended by more than 100 technical staff from leading manufacturing / exporting firms in Sri Lanka, including significant players such as Camso Loadstar, Trelleborg Lanka (Pvt) Ltd, Global Rubber Industries (Pvt) Ltd, CEAT Sri Lanka, etc.
The aims of this workshop were to improve the technical understanding of the tyre industry staff and provide exposure on the recent innovations & the global tyre industry specifications.
Mrs. Indira Malwatte, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of the Sri Lankan Export Development Board, Mr. Kaushal Rajapaksha, Chairman of the Sri Lankan Plastic & Rubber Institute, Mr. Prabhash Subasinghe, Chairman of the Sri Lankan Association of Rubber Product Manufacturers and Exporters, opened the workshop on 25 July 2019.
