Thaproban Beach House, one of the first hotels to be built in the Unawatuna area, would be reinvested to enhance its products.
Managing Director Thambapanni Leisure, (the owning company of Thaproban Beach House) Preshan Dissanayake, said the hotel was build in 1990 and it now needs a facelift. “We would be adding new furniture and be upgrading the rooms while installing new equipment to meet the modern day demands.”
He said that the current refurbishment drive done without damaging the harmony of the guests within the hotel would be completed within three months, keeping the property ready for the upcoming season.
He said that due to the Easter Sunday blasts last month, Tourism had taken the plunge, while the hoteliers too are making efforts to save revenue by the adoption of ‘cost-cutting’ measures.
He said that while most of the other hoteliers are closing down temporarily or retrenching their staff after the Easter Sunday blasts, he said that he would take this ‘lull’ opportunity to train their staff and reinvest.
