According to its unaudited financial statement, SriLankan Catering Ltd. recorded a steady financial performance for the financial year ended 31 March 2019 with operating profit growth of 24 percent year-on-year from Rs. 3.8 billion to Rs. 4.7 billion. SriLankan Catering is SriLankan Airlines ‘ wholly-owned subsidiary.
The operating profit ratio, which in 2017/18 stood at 44%, improved to 48% in 2018/19. The company also reported a post-tax net profit of Rs. 5.7 billion over the year, an increase of 46 percent over the previous year. The net exchange gain in 2017/18 rose from Rs. 202 million to Rs. 1.070 million in 2018/19.G. S. Withanage, SriLankan Catering Chairman, who is also SriLankan Airlines Chairman, said: “SriLankan Catering continues to be a tower of strength for our nation and the SriLankan Airlines Group, with another stellar performance. The Company has proven to be a perfect example of consistency and in the last four years has crossed the Rs. 3 billion profit mark each year. This performance was a 48 percent increase over the previous year’s operating profit for the financial year 2018/19 and is a tremendous achievement.
SriLankan Catering provides airlines operating at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) and Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport (MRIA) with approximately 24,000 inflight meals per day. These include well-known airlines such as Emirates Airline, Qatar Airways, Malaysian Airlines, Air China, Cathay Pacific Airways, China Eastern Airlines, China Southern Airlines, Korean Air, Turkish Airlines, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, and SriLankan Airlines, among others.
