Port City was declared an urban area

Under the announcement of the Urban Development Authority (UDA), the Megapolis and Western Development Ministry, the Colombo Port City was created as an urban development region. According to the powers vested in the Minister of Megapolis and Western Development, Patali Champika Ranawaka, under the section 3 of the Urban Development Authority Act No. 41 of 1978, the Colombo Port City was declared as an Urban Development Area on Tuesday.

Special unit for monitoring polls related to violence

A special permanent unit has been established by the Elections Commission to monitor election violence and violate election laws and regulations at future elections. It is headed by Additional Election Commissioner . An election secretariat official said the secretariat has a presidential counsel to investigate daily received complaints. The unit would also seek media assistance in obtaining information on election violence.

India, Sri Lanka agree to strengthen maritime cooperation
