Postmaster instructs to open Post Offices at least 2 hours daily in absence of curfew

Local News: The Postmaster General reports that during non-curfew hours, all post offices and sub-post offices were ordered to remain open for at least 2 hours a day.

In issuing a statement, he claimed that although it is difficult to sustain postal operations at a time when transport has come to a standstill, the following decisions were taken on the orders of Minister Bandula Gunawardena and Secretary to the Ministry for Information and Mass Media:

1. All post offices / sub-post offices to be kept open for at least 2 hours in the absence of curfew.

2. Assigning Postal Service vehicles and personnel to District Secretaries for delivery of essential consumer goods.

3. Allowing the use of post office premises, if required by district secretaries for operational matters.

4. Distribution of medicines provided by government hospital clinics to patients at their homes, as directed by the task force named to monitor the outbreak of the Coronavirus.
