Sri Lanka Air Force Modifies MI 17 as an Air Ambulance

Local News: On the instructions of the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sumangala Dias and under the supervision of the Director Aeronautical Engineering, the No 6 Helicopter Squadron has modified an MI-17 Helicopter as an Air Ambulance.

The modified helicopter is capable of air lifting 12 patients at a time and is equipped with twelve beds. An aircrew and medial crew is on standby at SLAF Katunayake to cater for any urgent requirements in transferring patients effected by COVID-19.
