Local News: As of now, one hundred and forty-five (145) people have been sent to the Boossa Naval Base quarantine centre. The Boossa Naval Base quarantine center was set up to facilitate the quarantine of people arriving on the island, at the backdrop where the latest coronavirus is spreading throughout the world.
In order to increase government efforts to counter the spread of the novel coronavirus in the world, on 16 March 2020 a four-story building at the Boossa Navy Base was prepared for quarantine of people. Accordingly, as of this morning (24 March 2020) 21 locals including 17 Sea Martials and 03 foreigners (total of 24) had been led to quarantine.
Apart from that, another 112 people were also sent this afternoon (24 March) to the quarantine center at the Boossa naval premises, who had been clinically separated at 03 locations near Galle harbor on medical advice. There were 36 locals and 76 foreigners among those people. In addition, another 09 local Sea Martials were also directed to the Boossa quarantine center on self-quarantine.
As such, the Boossa Naval Base quarantine center now houses a total of one hundred and forty-five (145) people, including 66 local citizens and 79 foreigners.
