Local News: The media division of the president said the islandwide police curfew currently enforced in the country was extended to the districts of Colombo, Gampaha, and Puttalam until 6 AM on Tuesday (March 24). The curfew will be lifted to the districts of Colombo, Gampaha, and Puttalam at 6 in the morning on Tuesday, March 24 and re-imposed on the same day at 2:00 pm.
The police curfew to the remaining districts will be lifted Monday (March 23) at 6 am and re-imposed the same day at 2:00 pm.
Issuing a communiqué, the president’s media division said, all bars in the country must remain closed throughout this time as well as ordered by the government.
The Government also called on the public not to worry unnecessarily over a food shortage, as all the necessary food products are properly stored and the distribution of such things would proceed as normal. The government has also instructed the police to encourage farmers in the country to proceed without any hindrance with cultivation activities.
