Local News: With immediate effect until further notice the government has banned leisure trips, pilgrimages and tours within the country. The President Media Division (PMD), issuing a communiqué in this regard, stated that this decision enters into force as a preventive measure to protect the general public against the risks of coronavirus outbreak in the country.
The government has also urged compliance with the instructions given to maintain a gap of at least one meter in public places with other individuals, including buses and trains inside.
Busses and trains are required to carry half the total number of passengers that can fit in to preserve the social gap. The Government has provided a sufficient number of necessary food products and other commodities to Sathosa and the country’s cooperative shops.
Such shops were told to sell such food products and goods without causing any inconvenience to the general public.
Meanwhile, on Sunday (22) the government will declare the date of the island-wide curfew being re-imposed. Beginning 6:00 pm today (20) until Monday (23), an island-wide curfew will be enforced to limit public movement as more people in the country are screened positively for the deadly virus.
