Private hospitals allowed to conduct Corona tests under strict conditions-Director-General of Health Services

Local News: Director-General of Health Services Dr. Anil Jasinghe said private hospitals would be permitted to carry out the coronavirus test under strict conditions.

Dr. Anil Jasinghe said this during the media briefing conducted at theCovid-19 National Operation Center for Prevention, Dr. Anil Jasinghe said that stringent conditions were put on private hospitals, and it was agreed to allow the test to be carried out at a cost of Rs. 6000.

The Director-General of Health Services indicated that the procedure would only be allowed for patients admitted to private hospitals and only for cases where a patient has symptoms.

Until examining suspicious patients, all private hospitals are expected to inform the Institute of Infectious Diseases and if the result is positive or negative, the result must also be notified as well. The test reports must be released within 24 hours and the tests should be conducted only on the basis of a specialist’s advice. He said that private hospitals may also use government laboratories to conduct such tests at a cost of Rs. 6000.

Dr. Anil Jasinghe said that covid-19 tests will be suspended in private hospitals which do not comply with the guidelines stated above.
