Ministry of Aquatic Resources Development launched a country-wide fish feed project

Development News Update:  Ministry of Aquatic Resources Development launched a country-wide fish feed project. Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development Douglas Devananda and Minister of State Sanath Nishantha Perera opened the production facility yesterday in Ja-Ela, Ekala.

A fish feed production machine was set up at Ekala Fish Food Factory, donated by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization. The machine will generate 500 kilograms of fish food per hour. There’s also the possibility to export the surplus, said Minister of State Perera. The fish feeds are produced with the technical assistance of the National Aquatic Resources Research and Development Agency (NARA), using discards from the Peliyagoda fish market.
