Local passenger flights from Colombo Ban lifted

Local News Update: After 25 years the ban on domestic passenger flights from Colombo was lifted. The Civil Aviation Authority says helicopters could now land in Galle Face at the grounds of the Defense Ministry. Following lifting of the ban, four domestic airline companies were granted permission for this purpose

The domestic flights have not been permitted into the Colombo city airspace over the past 25 years and have been forced to travel between Rathmalana and Battaramulla. The new decision would lead to an improvement in the tourism industry around Colombo, the government claims.
