First Class Umpires in Sri Lanka Cricket presented with MCC Law Book

Sports News from Sri Lanka: Recently, Sri Lanka Cricket handed over the book ‘ Tom Smith’s Cricket Umpiring and Scoring, ‘ which covers the Cricket Laws to its first-class umpires and umpire teachers.

Written by Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), the Custodian of the Laws of Cricket, this fully revised edition covers all the changes made in the 2017 Code, up to the second edition (2019) and provides umpires, scorers and all other cricket lovers with a detailed and a straightforward analysis of the Laws of Cricket.

Initiated by the Umpires Committee and the Domestic Cricket Division of the SLC, the book will help umpires gain an in depth knowledge of the game of cricket and also look for an interpretation of a specific law, a point or guidance on how to handle difficult on-field situations.
22 first class umpires and 04 umpire educators were handed over these books, during a ceremony held at the Sri Lanka Cricket Premises, recently.

Mr. Deepal Madurapperuma; Chairman; Umpires Committee, Mr. Wasanthalal Fernando, Secretary, Umpires Committee, Mr. Chinthaka Edirimanne, Head of Operations of Domestic Cricket, Mr. Mohamed Siddeek and Mr. Manuja Kariyapperuma, the Members of the Umpires Committee graced the occasion.
