Local News from Sri Lanka: Thirty-seven patients with dengue have been identified in Kurunegala and are now being treated at the Kurunegala Teaching Hospital, said hospital director Dr. Sarath Weerabandara.
He spoke at last week’s press briefing in Kurunegala. In September, he said the hospital handled 82 patients with dengue. Over the previous nine months, he said, about 639 dengue patients had received treatment from the hospital.
Kurunegala Senior Divisional Secretary W.E.Jayatilake said in the next two weeks the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education will jointly launch a mosquito eradication program covering schools and offices in Kurunegala.
