Cabinet decided to make Railways a ‘closed service’

Local News from Sri Lanka: According to a Cabinet decision taken yesterday, the Railway service should be made a’ closed service’ as separate from the remainder of the public service. The Cabinet of Ministers approved a Cabinet memorandum to make the Railway service a’ closed service’ at its meeting yesterday.

Accordingly, measures would be taken independently from the remainder of the public service in the future to remedy wage anomalies in different grades in the Railway service. A’ closed service’ will lead in the staff of the Railways becoming a separate framework separate from the remainder of the public service.

This will also imply that this framework will not be able to move to other components of the public service, stated government sources.
