Karachi’s maiden SL vs PAK ODI washed out

Sports News from Sri Lanka: Karachi’s first ODI hasn’t even got as far as the toss in over 10 years. Heavy rain had already continued to be a challenge in the days leading up to this game, with doubts arising as to whether the outfield would dry in time. Then, by towering dark clouds, forming big puddles on the outfield, and making even umpire inspections a challenge, more rain was provided on Friday, once the rain finally relented.

The downpour’s severity has spurred adjustments in the trip as well as postponing the second match to September 30 by one day. The final ODI is planned for October 2 as initially planned.

The National Stadium was strongly waterlogged, the covers never progressing through a gloomy Friday evening, and the authorities had little option but to give up this match just before 4:30 pm local time. Karachi will need bright sunshine over the weekend to help the outfield dry, but more rain is forecast for Sunday, sadly.

The Pakistan tour of Sri Lanka is made up of three ODIs and three T20Is.
