ICC appoints match officials for Sri Lanka series

Sports News from Sri Lanka: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has assigned its match officials for the home series of Pakistan against Sri Lanka beginning in Karachi on October 27 with the first of thee One-day Internationals before the teams clash in Lahore for three T20s.

Two ICC Elite Panel Umpires, namely Michael Gough and Joel Wilson, are also assigned for the ODI series, while Australian David Boon has been appointed as the ICC match referee.

In 2015, after the 2009 assault on the Sri Lankan team bus, Zimbabwe became the first global side to visit Pakistan. But then the ICC had refused to appoint officials of the game, citing concerns of safety.

The worldwide cricket-governing body, however, assigned Boon as the match-referee for the T20 series against West Indies for a home series in 2018.
