International News from World: A 73-year-old lady in Andhra Pradesh’s southern Indian state bore twin boys. The twins, born after IVF treatment, were supplied by doctors on Thursday.
“Mother and babies are doing well,” said Dr. Uma Sankar, the woman’s doctor, Mangayamma Yaramati said she and her 82-year-old husband had always wanted kids but had so far been unable to conceive.
“We are extremely pleased,” she said on Thursday, hours after the children were born, her husband Sitarama Rajarao.
But just one day ago, Mr. Rajarao experienced a sudden stroke and is presently under hospital treatment.
“Nothing is in our hands. It’s going to happen anything that should occur. It’s all in God’s hands,” Mr. Rajarao said when questioned who would care for the kids if anything happened to the pair because of their advanced era. To the couple, who also said they felt stigmatized in their village, it was essential to have kids.
“I’d be called a childless woman,” said Ms. Yaramati.
“We tried many times and saw many physicians,” she added, “so this is the happiest moment in my life.” Cesarean section supplied the twin boys, which in such rare instances is the usual technique.
In 2016, a child was given birth to another Indian female in her 70s, Daljinder Kaur.
