Heavy rainfall across Mumbai and suburban areas has crippled normal life Sunday with “intermittent rain with heavy to heavy showers” forecasting from the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) and extremely heavy rain in the town and in isolated locations for the coming 24 hours.
At least four people in Mumbai, Pune and Palghar districts died in rain events, while a person is missing in the afternoon after he falls into a swollen nullah in Dharavi, Mumbai Central. After suffering an electric shock when they touched their water-loaded home doors in the suburban Santacruz, a 52-year old woman and her 26-year-old son were murdered. After the wall of their house collapsed in Lonavala county, a 10-year-old kid died and his younger sister wounded, police said.
