Fortune magazine has revealed its annual ranking of the world’s top 500 firms and the picture is more than interesting. For the first time in world history, corporations from China–121 to 129 based on the Asian nation–outnumber US businesses.
Apple is still a leader in the mobile technology globe, sitting 11th overall, followed by Samsung 15th, while Google’s parent alphabet is 37th. Xiaomi joined the list for the first time at 468th place.
While well-known firms such as Microsoft, Huawei, Sony, and others are anticipated to be on the Global 500 list, the proprietor of Oppo, vivo, and OnePlus brands-BBK Electronics-is one conglomerate that is lacking. Also, remember that the Nokia entry listed here is the company that only receives royalties from HMD Global that is licensed to use the brand for smartphones.
Other worthy businesses are Hon Hai (better known as Foxconn), sitting at 23rd, AT&T at 25th, retailer JD.com at 139th, chip manufacturers SK Hynix, TSMC and Micron at 335, 363 and 409 respectively, and smartphone maker Wistron at 424. Apple fans would love the fact that the Cupertino company’s annual profits are second in the world–$59 billion, despite last quarter’s unimpressive iPhone sales.
